We observed the changing colours of Autumn mixing autumnal oranges & browns. I planned a session drawing & painting pumpkins, squashes & leaves, here’s some of their wonderful creations.
Once the leaves had fallen from the trees I encouraged everyone to observe the bare branches, twigs & seed heads which had been revealed. I shared a technique I use focusing on the negative space painting in monochrome on canvas.
Icy weather was approaching so I brought in frozen natural materials to study & paint. I shared with the group some of my sketches & a painting I had created after a walk on a snowy day. They had a go at mixing pastel colours with white acrylic paint to create delicate tones. I then encouraged them to enjoy playing with the paint creating different textures with everyday objects such as cotton buds, corks, nail brushes, scouring pads, cocktail sticks & rollers aswell as brushes.
